Vintage ring featuring a round diamond and sapphire halo platinum filligree and millgrain.

Platinum Pendant with three old mine cut center diamonds. The center is approximately 0.86 carat, the top 0.30 carat and the bottom 0.28 carat. There are 12 round brilliant cut diamonds above and below the emeralds that total 0.26 carat. Two in between the emeralds on each side totaling 0.05 carat and four emeralds totaling 0.25 carats. In total there are 1.75 cart of diamonds and 0.25 carats of emeralds. The diamonds are all at least G color and SI1-VS2 clarity.

Gentleman’s 14 karat yellow gold diamond and sapphire ring. 0.71ct diamond and 2 trillion cut sapphires equalling 1 carat. Sells for $2500.

The name aquamarine is derived from the Latin word aqua, meaning water, and marina, meaning the sea.

This gemstone was believed to protect sailors, as well as to guarantee a safe voyage. The serene color of aquamarine is said to cool the temper, allowing the wearer to remain calm and levelheaded. Its pale, cool color beautifully complements spring and summer wardrobes. Aquamarine is most often light in tone and ranges from greenish blue to blue-green; the color usually is more intense in larger stones.

This gemstone is mined mainly in Brazil, but also is found in Nigeria, Madagascar, Zambia, Pakistan, and Mozambique.

The benefits of online shopping are plentiful, from the convenience to the vast variety of options. However, few benefits come to those who buy loose diamonds online. Avoid the hassle of making the wrong purchase, read our 10 reasons NOT to acquire diamonds from the Internet:

1. Diamonds vastly range in color and clarity, hence their classifications. These intricacies can only be appreciated and discerned in person.
2. A jewelry retailer lets you see the diamonds, touch them and more importantly, examine them and compare them to each other.
3. You can’t truly experience the unique sparkle, shine and depth of a diamond from a photo online.  A lot of times these “effects” can be added to a digitally enhanced photo.
4. Its difficult to detect the quality, if there is haze, or how a diamond looks through a loupe when online.
5. Diamond prices are anonymous online. Working with a jeweler in person creates an opportunity to learn more about their value and pricing structure.
6. Be wary of “deals,”  you always get what you pay for. If you sense that the deal sounds to good to be true, you are probably right.
7. A diamond is forever, so should be the memory of the purchase. Online transactions are fast and frivolous, is that how you want to remember your very important purchase?

The Christ Child Society of Cleveland’s Starlight Ball was a big success again this year. Held on December 1st at the Renaissance Hotel in Downtown Cleveland, there was much excitement around the highly anticipated jewelry auction.

Marlen Jewelers donated a 1.00 carat total weight Hearts On Fire diamond pendant and guests were purchasing chances to win it at a very brisk pace. We congratulate Carla Bishop of Westlake as the winner of the necklace valued at $6900.00.

The annual charity ball included entertainment, dinner and a silent auction. Marlen Jewelers was honored to be a part of this incredible event supporting such a vital mission to help those who need it most.
